Programme profile
The world is changing fast. Large players such as international law firms, global businesses and governments need lawyers who are not afraid of complex cases involving many countries. These lawyers can work in international teams, with other lawyers and other professionals (with backgrounds in economics, business, and engineering). These lawyers know the law; they can find it, explain it to others, comment it and criticise it.
This new programme prepares these lawyers of the 21st century. Tilburg Law School has an outstanding team of professors with an international reputation. They are already working in global law and they are eager to teach it. The programme offers the best elements from successful global programmes in the US and the EU:
- Law is taught without referring only to the law of one country, so that you can work in cases involving many countries
- Emphasis is put on links with other disciplines such as economics, psychology or political science
-You are prepared to work in large organizations, i.e. international law firms, global businesses, ministries, European institutions, NGOs
Programme content
The core curriculum of the LLB Global Law covers all the basic modules necessary for a legal education. In addition, you follow a number of context modules which aim to provide you with the knowledge and abilities necessary to function in large organisations (modules in strategy and organisation, accounting and finance). You will also take a number of skills modules, in order to develop and train the necessary skills to conduct legal research from a transnational and interdisciplinary perspective.
In addition, you will follow introductory modules in law and related disciplines (for instance history, economics, political science, philosophy and psychology)
Progression
The university offers related Masters programmes, taught through English, in the following areas:
- International and European Labour Law;
- International and European Public Law;
- International Business Law;
- Law and Technology;
Entry Requirements
3 A-levels (CCC preferred, but not required) and 3 GCSEs. Note, their are some LC subjects that Tilburg doesn't accept (check with EUNICAS)
Scottish Students are required to have a SQC with 2 Advanced Highers and at least 4 Highers. Subjects to include Maths.
Six passes at Leaving Certificate, two at H4. A minimum of 350 points. Note, their are some LC subjects that Tilburg doesn't accept (check with EUNICAS)
